Developer Experience PM should be fairly technical as their customers are software developers. Unless you understand the overall Software development lifecycle (SDLC), you won't be able to make decisions on the products and tools you need to build. It does not mean that you should have a software engineering experience in the past, but you should learn atleast about the SDLC process.

Developer Product Manager is responsible for making tools to help developer increase their throughput and productivity. It's broadly referred as Developer experience (DevEx). It covers the entire software development lifecycle for developers, and the goal of the Developer PM is to enable developers with tools and automation across all the stages of DevEx.

    • Here is the list of primary stakeholders:

      • Customers - Software engineers

      • Leadership - Eng leads across the company

      • DevEx engineering team

      • Focussed engineering leadership who are voluntary contributors to the DevEx initiative
