It depends on the roadmap that we are building. There needs a balance of both. The Big bets are more the innovations that will help do a leap frog. Given significant investment here, this is usually vetted with multiple stakeholders. The incremental innovations are another way to accelerate the speed of delivery and help course correct quickly. This is something that I use more for quicker delivery and validation. Sometimes these also are build with partnerships across multiple design partners

For me, the criteria for evaluating good ideas should include uniqueness, feasibility, positive impact, and alignment with organizational goals.
Every idea needs to be vetted thoroughly. Here is my thought flow chart

    • Conduct market research.

    • Consider the competition.

    • Determine whether your product idea solves a problem.

    • Does it have a large impact.

    • Is it profitable

Then comes the relevance and feasibility of execution and deliverability.

Learning is a huge part of keeping one up to date. I enjoy learning new things. So books, webinars , Tedtalks were my go to for a long time. These days there are some excellent podcasts that keep me up to speed on things that interest me.

How I Built This with Guy Raz, Freakonomics Radio are few that I listen to. Also customers are another great source to help me keep up.
