Why product launches are so misunderstood, with Evelyn Watts, lead Product Marketer at RVezy.

The term “product launch” is often misunderstood or carries unrealistic expectations. If you want to know why, click the video below. In this episode, I sit down with Evelyn Watts, a veteran Product Marketer with so much wisdom! She is now the Head of Product Marketing at RVezy, and was the former Head of Product Marketing at Shopify. We talk about her experience leading product marketing at RVezy, a peer-to-peer RV rental marketplace, as she shares her wisdom on how to be an effective leader and product marketer. Some of her takeaways include: ✅ Enable individuals to take ownership and be accountable and feel TRUSTED. PMM is about aligning and unblocking teams so they can contribute their skills, domain expertise, and make informed decisions that support a successful launch. ✅ Know your weaknesses and build around them. See connections, draw pictures, speak in metaphors and rally teams to share a common vision or goal. Don’t forget that launches need plans turned into timelines, projects need to be tracked, meetings need calendar wizards. Wherever possible, partner with someone who can support the nitty-gritty project management work to keep everyone on track. ✅ Truly, every team should be balanced with members who have strengths, experience and perspectives others don’t so the entire team can benefit and learn from each other ✅ Find your super friends across the org who can give you insight into current friction points for internal teams and customers. PMMs with the most context are in a better position to challenge assumptions, identify gaps and align teams. You can subscribe to get updates.
