  1. What's the most effective way to scale a Demand Generation team beyond the first Demand Generation manager?

So I’m going to be a bit salty here, hope you don’t mind. But I think this isn’t the right frame of reference. The most effective way to scale a Demand Gen team isn’t by adding people, it’s by scaling return on effort. I don’t start with roles. I start by identifying opportunities that are clearly constrained by the current team’s capacity or skill set and estimating the ROI of unlocking them. That includes expected pipeline or revenue impact, the cost of hiring, and the operational overhead req ...Read More

  2. What are some examples of "quick wins" you should aim for in the first 90 days?

Honestly, “quick wins” can mean very different things depending on the company and where it’s starting. I think it’s more useful to focus on how to identify them rather than trying to prescribe specific tactics. First, a few things to avoid. One, you’re not going to recreate an entire strategy in 90 days. You may outline one, but implementing it takes much longer. Paradoxically, thinking bigger often means focusing on smaller, more foundational improvements. Two, you can’t move mountains. You ma ...Read More

  3. What questions should you ask during your one-on-ones with your cross-functional teams during your first month at the company?

First and foremost, I love this question. Thank you for asking it. How you work with others, build relationships with your stakeholder groups, and invest time in understanding their world is one of the most important determinants of success in a new role. This question recognizes the importance of relationships, listening over telling, and being willing to accept that what worked before may not work the same way here. That mindset alone is a great starting point. To your actual question, I tend ...Read More

  4. How do you measure success with 3rd party demand-generation agencies? What is your experience and did you have any success in driving demand gen through 3rd party agencies?

I’ll start by saying I’m a big believer in the value of agencies. The right partners can bring deep domain expertise, the ability to flex resources up or down as needed, and access to tools, networks, and channels that often don’t make sense to maintain in-house. Agencies are not a replacement for a strong internal team. They’re a way to scale the impact of that team. That said, they do need to be closely managed, and success has to be clearly defined and continuously assessed. You should always ...Read More

  5. Can you share the 30-60-90-day plan you created? Did everything or most things unfold as you envisioned or did it change?

Before even starting I sit down and think about what I learned in my last role, what I would do different, what I will do different in my next role. I never want to be a person who thinks of themself as an expert, I want to continuously improve, learn from every opportunity, own and admit my areas of opportunity, be committed to being a better leader with every role. Then you start the next one. One thing I like to think about is the difference between a plan and expectations. I can’t remember w ...Read More

  6. Where do you see AI making the biggest impact in accelerating demand gen within the first 90 days? What metrics or signals do you use to quickly validate if campaign automation or predictive scoring is actually improving pipeline quality?

Beyond pipeline and mqls, what metric do you use to measure true pipeline health?

There are a couple of layers to this that are worth addressing. First is personal impact. For me, AI has been an incredibly effective way to compress onboarding. Learning a new company, market, or industry often feels like drinking from a firehose, especially in the first 90 days. AI can help you quickly synthesize existing metrics, understand what “good” looks like, identify gaps, and narrow in on the areas where you’re most likely to make an early impact. I still rely heavily on my own experie ...Read More
