Ensuring there's alignment between Sales and Marketing is always key. When working in B2B, I found these were some of the best ways to gain that alignment: Share Goals: Make sure we're all aiming at the same goals or OKRs. Make sure Sales is part of the planning process: Marketing can sometimes build campaigns in silos and then just hand it over to Sales. But it's always stronger if Sales is apart of that initial strategy and build process upfront. They are on the frontlines with prospects and e ...Read More

When two senior execs have opposing views, my goal is to get to the root of the disagreement and find some common ground. Here's how I try to approach it: Listen and gain clarity first: If possible, I will try to meet with each executive stakeholder 1:1 to understand why they feel the way they do. What's driving their perspective (e.g. - legal risk, high cost, low impact, competing priorities). In most cases, there's usually a business reason driving misalignment. Find the commonality: I try to ...Read More

Successful partnerships aren’t just about process is about forming real relationships with the people in those roles. Here some rules I like to follow to forget these partnerships: Lead with empathy: Understand each team's goals, pressures and working styles. It's good to understand where someone is coming from so you know how to partner with them. Share the "Why" before the "ask": When you are trying to collaborate with other stakeholders, you should be open and explain the "why" so they unders ...Read More

Yes 100%! Different teams have different priorities, pressures, and ways of communicating—so I definitely tailor my approach depending on who I'm working with. Here are some examples: Sales: I like to focus things on impact -- really talk through how a new campaign or asset will support their goals (e.g. - breaking into a greenfield account, accelerating a deal) Product or Engineering: They want to understand the "Why" and how it connects to the broader business and/or product strategy. Their re ...Read More

Conflict is super normal when it comes to business environments. As a first instinct, it's easy to try to ignore it and see if it will resolve it. But you run the risk that it could manifest into something bigger. So it's best to try to address it head-on: Start with 1:1s. I’ll check in with each person separately to understand their perspective, what’s going on beneath the surface, and what they actually need. It’s usually not just about the project—it’s about communication styles, expectations ...Read More

There's no one right way to do this, but here a few tips that have worked for me: Gain early strategic alignment: Before the project even kicks off formally, I try to connect with key stakeholders to understand their priorities and expectations. I really try to give them an overview of what's to come in order to incorporate feedback. This helps me avoid surprises down the road. Mid-project check-in: Once the direction is taking shape—maybe there’s a draft of messaging or early creative—I’ll loop ...Read More

Influencing across functions is all about trust, empathy, and speaking people’s language. Here's how I think about it: Start with the ‘why’. If I want someone to care or support an idea, I have to make it relevant to them. So I always connect the dots—how it ties back to their goals, team metrics, or the bigger company strategy. Build relationships before you need them. It’s way easier to influence people when you already have a rapport. I make a habit of getting to know folks across the org—qui ...Read More
