How do you go about product integrations

With the ever increasing amount of SaaS software's out there, offering integrations is key to helping customers adopt our product. Now at what point does it become beneficial to stop developing this in-house and use a 3rd party. We're considering an iPaaS for our platform and I want to know why would it not make sense to do so maybe
