What type of pre-launch testing do you do?

Message testing is critical for launches. I look at 3 areas:

  • Customers/Prospects

    • Focus groups (usual via UX team).

    • Anon survey companies - there are plenty of survey companies you can use to get pulse checks. I take these results with a grain of salt but can be helpful

    • Google surveys - I have never done this but my former CEO would put some money into google ads promoting a simple google survey. This can be stood up very quicky for cheap.

  • Sales teams

    • Find your best sellers for this particular area and test the messaging with them. Ideally, you can have a seller be a build partner for the deck to make sure you are speaking the words of your customer

    • Talk to SEs. They will give you a gut and BS check for your messaging to make sure it is grounded in reality

  • Internal experts

    • Odds are you have people in your company that came from a relevant background to give feedback. I marketed a CPQ product so would test messaging with our Revenue Ops team because they would be our actual buyers.
