    I think about this the same way I think about writing a creative brief. If you don’t start with clarity on what problems you’re trying to understand or solve, you won’t get the right output. That’s why I always write a simple one-page research brief before kicking anything off.     There is an interesting overlap between market research and competitive intelligence. that intersection is market intelligence. strictly speaking CI is only about direct competitors. Ignoring things like technology changes, indirect / partner landscape, macroeconomic changes, market size, regulatory pressures and various other areas. With that, asking your research team to keep an eye on how the market is evolving and therefore what it means for the competitive arena is a helpful partnership
