What are the SaaS you think is doing product marketing exceptionally well globally and it's competitors and also please explain how is the one able to stay ahead than the rest?

I've always thought that Hubspot has done a great job with product marketing. They have great product market fit and their messaging and positioning is typically on point. As their platform has grown and they've introduced new offerings like their CRM, their "powerful alone, better together" message was really smart. And despite all the new offerings, they still clearly articulate the value of each for the distinct set of buyers each maps to.

From a more general marketing perspective, they've continued to beat the drum around "inbound marketing" FOREVER. Most companies get bored of their own messaging, even though the market typically hasn't yet taken notice. Hubspot has stayed the course and its paid off.

Salesforce immediately comes to mind. When you think of CRM, what other solutions do you think of? They do a great job explaining the product in digestible sound bites, by gamifying the learning experience and making advanced progression and product enablement fun. When they introduced the Trailblazer community concept, it was so distinctly memorable and innovative

Outside of the wonderful PMM work we do at Grammarly (we’re hiring btw), I think Salesforce and Google do an exceptional job with product marketing.

Salesforce focuses on the story and the pain they are solving. They are flashy and visionary (particularly in the slow-moving enterprise space). Google differentiates by being product-driven in their narrative, often dialing into the individual product benefits over industry shifts. I think Salesforce stays ahead because of their keen focus on the customer, their 360 narratives, and they do a lot of testing with customers. Google doubles down on technology and speed as a differentiator. I’ve also been impressed with Microsoft; lately. They have brought more energy to their historically developer-centric narratives and elevated their presence as “The Workplace’s BFF.”

I mean I'm biased but on top of that, I think Salesforce took the Product Marketing to the next level back in the days, and helps elevate the function in the industry.

At the end of the day, it is all about cutting through the noise and finding your own voice.

I think the companies that excel at PMM actually see Brand, PMM and Corp Narrative as different sides of the same coin. Telling your story. Your brand is your reputation in the market, and PMM naturally helps tell stories that foster that reputation.
