    When breaking into a new target audience, the very first channels you look to develop aren't about what you use (e.g., social media, email), but how you discover where that audience is and what resonates with them. You have to do the research first. I would start by running some existing analysis on your current database, competitor analysis and website traffic.     Look for any low hanging demand capture opportunities. Anywhere demand already exists and you just need to show up. Then shift to demand creation channels that can scale. Then go to channels that can't scale and build out programs with agencies, contractors, or additional help to attempt to scale those.

    The channels depend on the target persona! Is your persona a developer, an IT manager, or a CXO? All these people may hang out at different places and prefer different modes of communication.   A developer is more likely to engage with Hands-on-Content (demos, labs, etc.) and prefer channels like Discord, Reddit, Developer Conferences, User Groups, etc., and are heavily influenced by leaders in their fields.   CXOs on the other hand are more likely to engage via thought leadership content and at ...Read More

    Typically, I would look to SEO and email first, as these are proven channels that work across all target audiences. Although the approach and messaging may vary, the success of these channels is fairly consistent. All other channels, including paid acquisition, largely depend on where your new target audience prefers to get their information. Therefore, I would select additional channels based on this information.
