I've done this a few times now with new product leaders and the pattern that works for me is pretty consistent. First meeting is all about their vision — I ask a lot of questions and I really listen. Then I take that and develop my own POV on the messaging or the market opportunity and bring it back to them. I've had moments where that second conversation completely changed the relationship — suddenly we're building something together instead of me just executing against their brief. That shift ...Read More

The fastest way to build trust is to make people's jobs easier and show you know your stuff. Set up 1:1s with key stakeholders to understand their goals, pain points, and what success looks like for them. I ask: What's working? What's frustrating? What can I do to make your life easier? Honestly, just help. Look around for what needs doing, raise your hand, and get it done. Early on, you build trust by being the person who shows up and delivers. And the bar matters here.. don't just get things done but get them done really well. That's when you've earned the trust to start building on your own ideas.

I think about meeting with practitioners in concentric circles: Who are my core stakeholders? Who are one-degree away helping drive much of the work? Who are two-degrees away that are typically consulted and informed? From here, I will schedule meetings with #1 and #2 buckets in my first 30 days to learn as much as I can about: Their role & responsibility How they work with myself / my team(s) Where their largest challenges are How I can help Who else do they think I should meet with? Hearin ...Read More

    • In the first 90 days, my focus is on building strong relationships based on open communication with key stakeholders across product, sales, and marketing teams.

    • I'd work to understand the current strategies in place and gather insights on what's working and where there are opportunities for improvement.

    • From there, I’d develop a comprehensive go-to-market plan for the product, ensuring that we have clear messaging, defined KPIs, and alignment across teams.
