They often vary by business strategy, company maturity, product suite, PMM size and more. In more scaled organizations for example, you might own high level KPIs like pipeline or revenue for a product line. In a start-up world where you’re wearing a bunch of hats, KPIs might be more project-based as priorities shift.  My ...Read More

When you track KPIs through the 4As, it becomes a lot easier to see what is actually working across the lifecycle. Or, employee satisfaction scores. useful for putting context around the function Output is where most functions are at. 10 assets were produced this week. 1 hero asset. 5 sales support calls etc. Outcomes is measuring business impact. to what extent did the activities move the needle, or simply, how is the business performance. The biggest mistake I see teams make is treating KPI tracking as a reporting exercise rather than a way to measure business impact. As Product Marketers, our job doesn't end when a campaign launches or a sales deck is delivered. That's why I believe PMMs should measure success across the entire customer journey. Early-stage metrics like traffic, content engagement, and campaign performance can indicate interest, but they don't tell you whether your positioning, messaging, or GTM strategy is actu ...Read More
